Speed issue
Just aquired a 1980 Electric Club Car -It starts in high speed - All five solenoids progress in steps as you depress pedal and cart starts once last solenoid is energized - in high speed.
Once running the speed can be regulated up and down. What is going on? |

Re: Speed issue
from the left side of cart working to the right the 2nd solenoid is 1st speed and so on until you get to furthest right one which is high speed.........so starting with 2nd solenoid from left working right those 3 middle solenoids arn,t working..........if they are clicking that means the micro switches are good but even clicking solenoids can be and are bad i see it all the time..............my advice change all5 keep the 2 good ones for spares and clean coils and buss bar..........................................

Re: Speed issue
Changed all solenoids - still have same issue. Each will activate as you depress pedal but will not run until reaching the last "high speed" solenoid.
Once underway and pedal is slowly released the speeds will egauge accordingly. As long as you do not let the pedal all the way back into rest position you can speed up/down. But once you stop it only takes off again in high speed. |

Re: Speed issue
are the resistor coils all good ? none broken or touching each other....copper buss bar that runs across the solenoids clean and intact?..........theres nothing else left in that system.......microswitches have to be ok if all solenoids are clicking......look close at coils and buss bar.......you put all new 36 volt solenoids on?....................

Re: Speed issue
Yes, all solemoids are new. Is there a specific reading I should get across each resistor coil?

Re: Speed issue
Buss bar is in good shape. All connections have been cleaned and tightened.

Re: Speed issue
My guess is the master is not being activated until the 5th sol is engaged.... I don't know why that would be but, if you could verify this with a voltmeter it might help narrow the possible problems.
