Default 1996 Club Car DS rough acceleration

I have a 96 DS that I just finished building. It is all stock electronically, controller, motor, etc. When you press the accelerator pedal, the cart wil lunge rather quickly. I built it for my kids to use so this rough abrubt acceleration is quite dangerous. The only thing added as far as electronics are concerned, is I had to install a solenoid. Could there be something wrong with the accelerator switch? You can't go slow or ease the cart into movement. Any suggestions? Also, it is a DS 48v series cart.

Did it start this all of a sudden or have you seen the cart right?

Is the controller aftermarket?

I got this cart for free but it did not have any batteries or wiring. The motor and controller are stock. I took it to a shop to have the batteries installed and wiring completed. They had to put in a solenoid as well. But it's done it since I got it running.

I'm not sure actually. Where and how do I tell which is which? I think it's a vdrive.

potbox is mounted underneath on frame drivers side and v-glide is on frame rail by front drivers side battery...its a black box shaped like a slice of pie........if its a v-glide i would open it and see what everything inside looks like there are adjustments that can be made and it can be cleaned......pot box not so....if its going bad i beleive you,ll need to replace it ................................

I took the pedal assembly apart and removed the micro switch. Is this the potentiometer? I found one on eBay cheap and ordered it. The only other part in the box is a small round seals piece that looks to be some type of resistor. Could this be affecting it as well? I so, can you replace it? Any help is greatly appreciated. Just trying to make this cart be able to ease into acceleration instead of jumping.

On my 96, there was a pot box under the pedal under the floor. You can undo 2 screws and take the cover off, then you can adjust it. You just loosen the nut on the rheostat lever, and twist the rod until you get the right acceleration. I had to play with mine quite a bit before i got it just right. If you don't have a pot box, this doesn't apply.
