Default should i upgrade???

I have a ezgo txt
It has been converted to 48v
It has a emp M13-0659 motor
Alltrax npx 400 amp controler
I just finished the lift up tonight i did a jakes 6" spindle
And 14" custom wheels with 23" tires
Anyhow my questions are does anyone know the spec on the motor im running?
Also i just found out the controller is not for lifted carts or aftermarket motors
So would it be worth the money to go to a alltrax 500 that is programable or even stay with a programable 400? Will i see a change in how the cart runs just by going to the same amp axe thats programable?

before you lifted it and new tires......do you know how fast is goes in MPH?

contact EMP about the spec's, they don't list them on their site.

EMP

you didn't say, but have you upgraded your solenoid? you should, AND get a HD F/R switch as well......and a set if 2 ga. cables....all of them.

and personally, I would go with the 500A controller.....its what I did anyway.

Already has hd f/r and solenoid
And 4 gauge cables
I guess what im asking is npx 400 non programable vs axe 400 programable
Top speed is fine but i would a little more tq

seems to me it does what you want it to do now....what I would do is talk to an EXPERT to see if you really do need to upgrade.....but if you are really only wanting to go from non-programmable to a programmable controller.....I would go up to a 500A, just get a little more bang for your buck.

Typically, the NPX line of controls is designed as an OEM replacement. The NPX 400 does have a lower output than the AXE 400 but, if you are going to upgrade go bigger like the 500 amp, this will allow the motor access to about 30% more amperage will increase your torque proportionately.
The tire size change (just made) increased the final drive ration about 30%. As we all know, the bigger tires are torque robbers. So it will take this much more amperage to get you back to the performance you had before the tire size change. I hope this helps

I don't know your electrical capabilities, so...

A motor will draw (within reason) as many amps as it can to do the work you're asking it to do. The controller limits the amps it will allow the motor to draw.

I ran my stock 36 volt series TXT on 48 volts at 500 amps with no problems, other than having to monitor heat. Carrying up to three passengers and driving through all four of our subdivisions with moderate hills, would get the motor hot enough where I needed to let it rest before carrying on, which was what we typically did. The insulation rating for most buggy motors is 180° C, which is pretty darn hot. The problem is there's no easy way to directly measure winding temp, but you can monitor the outside of the motor with a cheap IR temp gun.
