Re: 08 pds fly up hills
So it’s been awhile. I’ve been happy with the xtc500 with 42V. I still only get about 24mph and then the cart hits a limit. Even going down a hill. Is it a setting in the program that is doing that.

Did you ever install the 215/50-12 tires (20.5" tall) or are you still running stock (18" tall) tires? 24MPH w/18" tires = 5575RPM 24MPH w/20.5" tires = 4895RPM The XCT starts progressively throttling back as the motor RPM approaches the set point and progressively applies more and more regen braking as the motor RPM starts exceeding the set point. The 8000RPM limit set in the attached screen shot was used to see what the max speed I could get out of my motor at 42V on level ground with 17" tall tires. That being about 28.5MPH at about 7000RPM. I now have the limit set to 6500RPM, which gives me a bit over 25MPH and keeps me from getting a speeding ticket on city streets when I don't have a GPS in the cart. ----------- Top speed is also limited by the voltage applied to the motor at the time and the more amps drawn from the battery pack, the more the pack voltage drops and it drops almost instantly, but recovers slowly. The trick to reaching your cart's max top speed, is to inflate the tire to the maximum allowable PSI and don't push pedal to floor until cart is moving at least 15 MPH to minimize max amp draw, which in turn minimized voltage drop. |
