EZGO TXT Troubleshooting
I have an EZGO TXT with manufac. code F103, serial number 1605721.
It's a 36V model. I just installed 6 of the US Battery 2200 XC2 batteries. The problem is they don't seem to last much longer than 30 min to an hour. The cart has a 4" lift and oversized knobby tires on the rear. The terrain I'm on is most definitely not flat. There are some long slow inclines as well as some shorter larger inclines. I'm really disappointed with how little I can drive it. I thought the 6 new bats would mean I'd get at least 3+ hours. Thoughts? |

Re: EZGO TXT Troubleshooting
Make: TXT
Type: Electric 36 V Model: TXT Standard (series) Year: 2003 Lots of stuff here 1. Are you sure the batteries are being fully charged to start with? Voltage at start of trip? 2. How big are the tires? 3. How far are you running in this 30 minutes to an hour time frame in the hills? 4. Wide open the whole time? 5. What do you mean it doesn't last? Voltage at end of trip? |

Re: EZGO TXT Troubleshooting
New batteries only have about 75% of their rated AH capacity until they have been broken in.
A US 2200 is a rated at 232AH, so when new they are about 174AH. Here is a link to how to break in batteries. (Hopefully, you fully charged them before you used them the first time.) 3+ hours of pedal time is a pipe dream. At speed, a cart with stock height tires average somewhere between 50A and 75A. The US 2200 run time spec is 122 Minutes at 75A and 179 Minutes at 56A, but you don't want to discharge cart batteries over 50%, so the usable run-time is half of that. In other words, 1.0hr to 1.5hr at best after the batteries are properly broken in. Tires taller that stock height (18") use more amps and low pressure tires (IE: Max inflation pressure <10 PSI) use even more amps. Hilly terrain also uses more amps. --------------- US Battery batteries require a higher finish voltage on charge than Trojan batteries and most cart chargers are designed to charge Trojan batteries, so your charger may not be capable of fully charging them. Attached is a Voltage vs SoC (State of Charge) chart for US Battery products. The voltages listed are taken 12 hours after the charger shuts off automatically. Your batteries ought to be reading 38.5V, or more; Or they are not being fully charged. |

2. 22x11 3. It's rarely run on a perfectly level surface. 4. I'd say it's wide open 80% of the time 5. I haven't checked voltage at end of trip. I will check on that after its next use. |

Re: EZGO TXT Troubleshooting
JohnnieB's post in post #3 is very telling. About the most you could expect 1 1/2 hours, and your running hills at WOT with oversize tires, so even that is too high of an expectation.
If range is your thing, you should probably research adding 2 more 6v batteries to your pack to get you to 48v, and upgrade all the necessary components. OR, sell it and buy a gas cart. |

Chart is for mature batteries, new batteries will read be a bit higher. 2. With 22" tire, you lose about 18% of the torque the motor puts out, so it draws more amps. 3. Hills increase average amp usage. 4. what is the top speed? 5. Let battery pack rest at least 15 minutes after stopping to get the battery voltage, 30 minutes is better. Give me the start and end volt as well as the distance traveled and I can give you a rough estimated of your carts max range. |

Re: EZGO TXT Troubleshooting
Also what charger do you have? It may not be bringing them up to a full charge.
