EZGO TXT PDS with AXE 650Amp Controller Problems & Troubleshooting
EZGO txt pds cart 36 volt setup with good interstate batteries, ITS Axe 4865 (650 amp controller), stock motor, 4-6 inch lift, 22" inch tires, not producing the power it should. Tried different settings with pro build 39 and its still not really changing speed and uphill climb.
With just one person on the cart--- Uphill speed: 10-11mph Flat: 14-15mph Downhill: 18-19mph These numbers seem relatively low considering it should produce much more speed than this. Any ideas? |

You have either got the cart or the controller misidentified OR you are trying to runs a SepEx motor with a controller designed to run Series a motor.

I agree something is wrong. I suggest you :
1. Identify the motor by make and model # and post that information here. 2. open your controller program and do the following: --a. verify map 4 is installed --b. verify speed slider is moved to the full right at 100% --c. turn the control amperage max DOWN to 460 amps max for the stock motor |

So no, that would not be the case. It's a series wound GE motor. |

Oh - that makes a big difference. System is running as expected. The numbers you report are about average for a cart of this drive system and yr. If it was a PDS cart as first stated then yes, the numbers would be low and my program suggestions would apply but not now, series drive is a different animal.
The stock 2.5 hp motor produces all the power and speed it can at 500 amps. PS That stock solenoid is not long for this world on a 650 control. Use a 400a solenoid. |

It is a EZGO TXT Series cart rather than a EZGO TXT PDS. ---------- I cannot make out the model number of the motor, so I don't know if it is a standard speed, Hi-Speed or Hi-Torque. Theoretically, a standard speed motor will produce a top speed of about 17 MPH on level ground with 22" tall tires and a 36V battery pack. However, the 22" tires will cost you about 18% of the torque the motor produces, so it won't reach the theoretical speed. Also, if the tires are the low pressure type (max inflation pressure less than 10 PSI), it will be even slower. Of course, battery issues and/or high current cables, contacts and connections issues can keep the speed down. In a nutshell, we need to find out what type motor (standard, speed or torque) is installed and tire type to determine if the speeds you are getting are normal or abnormal. ---------- Scotty posted while I was typing. |

Maybe I'll try upgrading the solenoid to a heavy duty. Or could I go with a 48v solenoid or will it burn motor up? I had an ezgo ST sport with a black stock motor and it was a stock Curtis controller and it would move!! I kept wondering how it was performing like that and I kept looking around at the setup and even though it was a 36 volt setup, come to find out it had a 48v heavy duty solenoid. Open to any suggestions for a few more mph. A stock GE 8hp motor seems like plenty to top 20mph and I currently cannot. Attached a clearer photo of motor serial |

The answer to your question is printed on the motor label.
It says 1600rpm. It could be 8 or 80 hp it still only turns 1600 rpms. It will probably pull tree stumps but, she's not wound for speed. I think stock was 2800 rpm |

Why the h*ll would you make a motor that only turns at 1600 rpm for a golf cart?
Seems like an ignorant move |
