3-1 Error Code. Cart won’t move.
I am getting a 3-1 error code and my cart will go iforward or reverse. I just replaced the solenoid. Any one know anything before I replace the controller? 2001 Ezgo PDS 36 volt. F/R Switch is on the dash.

Did you replace the solenoid before or after the controller failed. 3-1 Error code indicates that the solenoid driver transistor inside your controller has failed. You will need to repair or replace the controller.

I apologize. I just reread my original post. The cart will NOT move. It will NOT go in F or R. How can I test if the controller is bad. The cart originally went 5mph and that was all. I replaced the solenoid and removed an extra jumper that the previous owner had put on the car between the 2 big post on the old solenoid. And now it won’t move at all.

Here is a link to a bench test procedure for the PDS controller. Step 5 tests the solenoid driver.

It sounds like the original owner bypassed the solenoid with a jumper because the solenoid driver in the controller was bad. That would put the cart into "limp" mode because the controller sensed a welded solenoid condition. The cart would still run but very slow.

Thanks for controller test sheet. I will put that to use before I order a new controller. I’ll report back the findings.

Just finished the controller bench test. Results were what was expected. Bad Solenoid Driver Test. All other tests came back good. Anyone know if it’s worth having this controller rebuilt? Or better off getting a new one? Thanks for the help.

You can fix it yourself by replacing one transistor. Replace Q3, part # LU024N located on the logic board near the 10 pin connector, J1.
