Marathon Cuts Off at When throttle fully pressed

Marathon, cart runs fine except it cuts out at full throttle.

I can push the pedal and it will accelerate up to about 75% of the pedal travel, then when I push further cart cuts out, if I release pedal back to 75% or so, it goes again.

Ideas or suggestions?

Need a bit more information about your cart. Does it have a black controller under the seat, or is it a resistor cart. A year or serial number would also help.

Sorry, should have specified, it is an electronic controller cart, not a resistor cart. One of the last of the marathons, freedom model. I will get the serial number and year when I am back at the cart.

You most likely have a bad potentiometer. On the top of your controller you will see wires attached with spade terminals. You will need to check the resistance across the white and red with them unhooked. Connect your DVOM meter across the wires and you should read a nice smooth transition from 0 ohms (pedal up) to 5k ohms (pedal down). Very common failure on Marathon carts.

I agree with the PB-6 throttle problem as a likely cause. It is adjustable, so you may be able to adjust it back into range. You should see around 5000 ohms at full throttle.
