1990 marathon no go
New to me 1990 marathon. unknown history. Had batteries when I got it, all were dead. Replaced rusted out battery trays. Got all new batteries. Looked up battery wiring diagram. made new cables (2gauge). connected everything as per diagram. Key on and in forward or reverse I just get a slight bump then nothing. Like the controller pre-charge being spent? I looked at the solenoid and most I have seen have a diode and/or a resistor, Mine does not. here are a few pics. If you can see anything wired wrong or any suggestions as to the problems I would be grateful thanx cory

Re: 1990 marathon no go
OK some more trouble shooting today. I have pack voltage thru key switch/forward neutral reverse micro switch/throttle micro switch to controller blue wire. Also have pack voltage Thru solenoid (large terminals) when key on in F or R and throttle pressed. Solenoid clicks. Also have around 700 ohms (just when the micro switch clicks) to 5500 ohms going to the controller from the throttle pot in forward and about half that when in Reverse. Bad controller?

Re: 1990 marathon no go
Hi Cory, I just joined this site and have a 1994 ez go cart that looks a lot like yours internally. I’ve been replacing parts as I follow the troubleshooting instructions online but still have had no luck getting it to go. Hopefully someone can offer some good advice that might help both of us. I’ve replaced my diode that came in a pack of 4 so if you need one let me know and i can send one to you. I have no need for the 3 extra diodes in the pack.
Good Luck, Jody Faye |

Welcome to the site!
Verify your batteries are fully charged, as a pack and individually (even though they are brand new) see attached state of charge chart. There are alot of great people on this site and the majority have more knowledge than I and will offer any help they can. |

Re: 1990 marathon no go
Rechecked all the wiring, all correct from the diagram I have except the resistor and diode. unhooked the wires from the motor and tested the motor from a procedure found on this site...thanx. Motor tested good. Everything is pointing to the Curtis controller being bad. I'm gonna look for a used one locally.
