Info needed on pictured charger
Please tell me some info on this charger. It’s reading very low amperage, I want to make sure this doesn’t burn up my batteries. Is this charging correctly? What voltage should this shut down automatically?

That is a common older 36 V automatic charger. The most important thing to check is to make sure it shuts off when you unplug it from the cart, and starts when you plug it back in. It should start charging around 15 A and gradually drop down over several hours if the pack is low. Club Car DS driver’s club #59 |

Re: Info needed on pictured charger
Likely a bad capacitor. But check the pack voltage while on charge to see it's increase.

Re: Info needed on pictured charger
It only starts at 2 amps read from the charger gauge. Voltage does rise after a while on the batteries. How long should it take this charger to fully charge batteries? Also, is there anyway I can test the battery level indicator for functionality? It dropped as I drove the cart but had not raised back up at all while charging.

Re: Info needed on pictured charger
Do you have a voltage meter to check the batteries, and the voltage output of the charger?

Definitely sounds like bad capacitor!

Re: Info needed on pictured charger
After leaving the batteries to sit overnight off the charger, voltage is reading 37.8 volts on the battery.
I really don’t know if I ran the batteries down enough before I charged it. |

Even with a bad capacitor it will still bring them up slightly. But once you drain them significantly you won’t be able to charge them much. I would check to make sure the charger is working properly. See what cgtech said.
