Don’t think it was already mentioned, but don’t forget that you’ll need longer cables for the 8v batteries.

I just talked to the buddy I got the cart from. The batteries are just under 3 years old. He didn’t use the cart much because the course he lived by shut down. I guess I’ll be staying 36v for now until these die, and then go 48 when it’s time to buy all new batteries.

I’ll be putting this thing on a diet though, and taking off the rear seat.

Also how old are your batteries? If you add two more new ones to an old pack they'll be brought down to the level on the old pack which wouldn't be very cost effective either.

There was a guy here recently that had a local golf course that swapped out batteries every couple years, so you might check with your course to see if they might have any 6v close to the same rating and year as yours or a complete set of 8v that you could get at a reduced price

Just throw up an ad on CL or your local classified. Sell your complete pack but ask for his/her cores to trade in on new 8v. I live 1/2hr from the nearest town and mine were spoken for before they were out of the cart! This way you can do your build at one time. Do it right and only do it once!

I was thinking the same thing. I know they wouldn’t last long on cl around my area either.

MB, whenever you do go to 48v you’re going to wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. If you can swing it, do it now. You’ll have a completely different cart.

You guys are awesome. I’m looking around now. One local shop wants $975 for 6 8v Trojans.

Now your "thinkin' straight". We are all here for you! Unless you are looking for a cure to this addiction/affliction. We are more in the "enabler" group.

Update,

I’ve made a ton of calls and talked to a friend that can get me a decent price on some t875. He’ll give me his old 6v and give me some cash for my T105.

I’ve ordered brackets and bag holders to remove the back seat and components. So hopefully I’ll save some weight there.

Does the Curtis 1205m need reprogramming to go from 36 to 48, or can I just plug and play? This is a ‘03 series txt.

Do I need to do anything to the stock motor, or will it be fine?

I’ll be ordering a new solenoid.

Thanks for all the help.

the stock motor does great on 48v, so there is no problem there.
