Default Battery Question

Hello all,

I got a quick question I hope you can help me with.

I own a 2001 Club Car DS 48 Volt with new batteries (batteries about 5 months old).

When I purchased new batteries I decided to install a volt meter (pictured). It has worked fine, when I charge the batteries it would measure full (all the way to the right)

As of the last month my meter will sometimes show full but most times it will show 1/4 to 1/2 full (photo attached)

When I test each individual battery they read 8.7 volts or better and the whole group of batteries read 52.0 volts.

My cart also seems to run perfect with plenty of power so I guess I'm just wondering why my volt meter is showing 1/4 to 1/2 full

question 1. Is it possible I just have a bad volt meter?

question 2. When I test each individual battery will it read the same before a charge "vs" after a full charge?

Thank you for any input you can give me.

Mike.

Scrap that "bar" meter and get a digital meter. Much more accurate.

Get a digital meter from Carts Unlimited (site sponsor) best investment you can make to protect your batteries. You will find it easy to install and ScottyB is a regular poster here as well if you have any questions.

The meter Scotty B sells is most likely the, best meter. However to reset the, meter you have, try putting the cart in tow, disconnect the main battery cables, wait a few seconds reconnect everything put back in run. Reconnect the charger, once it turns off if the meter you have is not correct, replace it with the meter of your choice.

Yes, definitely get a Scotty meter!
I put one on this spring, not sure why I didn't get one sooner...

Thank you all so much. Yea, it would appear the volt meter has gone sour. I'll check out one of those digital ones.

Thanks again and great forum.
