You can build a bear bones set up for much less Or get fancy with it with a steel enclosure. Compressing the cells makes the battery last longer. But even the cheaper plastic commercial batteries do not do this. But even the cheaper plastic commercially available batteries do not do this.

Lithium can be charged at any time, and very quickly if you choose to. You could quite easily get home from golf, plug in a 20A charger and put 20Ah back into the battery each hour. So you may not need such a big battery.

DIYing a battery is certainly an option and is rewarding and will save you money. Do you own and know how to use a multimeter? If the answer to that is yes, then go for it, if it’s no, then forget it as a lithium battery is not the place to teach yourself.

What size charger is best? Does a slow charge vs high power fast charge even matter ?
