Yamaha governor bypass

Could be a dumb question...but here goes..

If you do reroute the throttle cable from the peddle to the carb.Do you still need the smaller spring that attaches tp the end where the accellerater cable use to hook to the govenor...cause mine is not attached to one end an I'll be damned if I know where it goes.

Never mind.It don't matter.Did the bypass and all is perfect with just a little adjustments.Got the cart to go slow an then fast.No backfire after just small adjustments.Thanks to everyone that posted.It helped a lot.

HELP.I HAVE A YAMAHA GAS CART.G-5 TO G8/IT WONT RUN.I PUT A NEW IGNITION SWITCH AND COIL,SO I HAVE SPARK,THEN I PULLED OFF THE FUEL PUMP AND TO THE CARB ,I KNOW IS GETTING GAS,,WHEN YOU STEP ON IT IT WANTS TO FIRE UP BUT IT WONT FIRE ,I CHECKED THE FUSES,I DONT KNOW GAS AND SPARK THIS THING SHOULD RUN,I USE THIS CART DAILY ON MY LAND AND HAVE A BAD BACK,I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP

Had the same problem with my G8. check the plug gap it made a huge difference on mine. the other problem may be air. check your filters make sure they are clean. also you can pull the hose off the canister box wrap a clean piece of a t-shirt over it and use the hose clamp to hold it on. if it fires up this way then you have an air problem. let me know if this helps.

ill check the gap on the pug in the am...question ?if i disconnected the airhose from the box to the carb wouldnt it get all trhe air it needs to run.do you know the gap thanks for your help

if you disconnect the air hose from the air box to the carb. it might start but it will not run good. the yamahas are jetted very lean and do not like air leaks.
pull the spark plug put it in the wire and then turn the cart over. check to see if it has spark.

Have you ever spent the money on a new "TCI" unit ? "Jump" that spark one time and you could be buying another one. Get a "dynamic" spark tester. If you disconnect the air box hose at the carb and it runs better...you have an airbox sealing problem.
