Default Problem with G8 Cart

Hello all, i'm a newb here and a new golf cart owner. I've got a 1993 G8, at least best i can tell, the serial number is JF2-300846.

A few days ago i was driving it wide open down the road and all of a sudden it just gradually lost power over about a quarter mile, then died right as i rolled into our driveway, i thought maybe the battery had died or ran out of gas but not the case. I haven't been able to get it to start since then. It seems to have spark.

Very limited info, but maybe you could check to see if a pushrod came undone?

I appologize i truly don't know much about these things. When i turn the key on and press the gas down it makes a single click noise and nothing else, it seems to spark once (i put a inline spark tester from harbor freight on it) I tried spraying starter fluid into the carb and it made no difference.

First thing I would do, would be to charge the batt and then take batt to an auto parts store and have it load tested.

Or follow the stiicky; "So your yami won't turn over". but that can get confusing for a new b.

Also check oil!!

When you say "you press the pedal and it clicks but nothing else" is the motor turning over? If its not see if you can turn the motor over by hand (grab lutch and try to turn it)....

Is it possible that the piston is bumping a valve that's stuck open? I'm not real familiar with this engine configuration internally (in the head and cylinder).

I'm just thinking that this problem onset while driving it. If it was a lower engine problem, there would have been lots of noise and loud "badness" associated with the "death".

But, if it was a valve that began sticking that might be why it "just gradually lost power over about a quarter mile, then died right as i rolled into our driveway."

But, if that was the case, I guess you would have heard the piston hitting the valve too!?!?

Taking the valve cover off and looking at the positions and operation of the push rods and valve stems might be a good place to start?
