G1 Engine change over
Has anyone changed G1 over to a 4 stroke gas engine ?

A few of us have done it. You will need a newer trans/rearend if you want to maintain reverse. I recommend finding another 4 stroke cart if you're looking to go big block. But if you're dead set on swapping the G1 over then yes, it is possible.
