You can try replacing that transistor. (and resistor) Mauser, Digikey, Newark will have them for a few bucks. You might get lucky. Worth a shot. It looks like it will be easy to do. Look for damaged traces on the board too.

From what I can tell the resistor is 33ohm 5%. It has 4 bands orange, orange, black, gold. Its hard to tell if they are orange or red. I tested the ohm on one next to it and it comes to around 34. The bad one is 600-700. Is there a big difference if i can only find a 35 ohm resistor?

The transistor has 75645p on it. Looks to be a 75a, 100V. Is there any other specs i need to be concerned with when purchasing one?

Amazing the amount of knowledge on this forum. Thanks guys.

Sounds like 33 ohm. THey are probably all the same there. Replace it with a 33 ohm. Look very carefully for blown traces around that resistor and mosfet. You can repair the board too if it's damaged but that may be a little more work. Look for other damage when you are doing the repair and you may get lucky and have it back running for only a few bucks.

Cool project there. It is interesting that the Curtis controllers are so universal.

It still looks like a lot of putzy work.

Parts are ordered, should be here Monday. Really hope $3 worth of parts solves the issue.

Step 1 complete.

If it does not however, what would you guys suggest I get?

Right now the cart runs 30-32. Upgraded motor. Stock controller and solenoid.

Larger tires and lift kit possible in a year. Rear seat already installed with HD leaf springs. I use the cart to pull a small trailer around the yard and also pull a dual axle trailer when necessary.

Thanks.

It looks good. There is only one thing I would suggest. It is a solder sucker to clean those mounting holes out good before you try to install the new components.

Google it. Walmart was just a suggestion.

Funny you said that. I'm going to get one before Monday. I asked the guy at RadioShack for one but he said "nah you don't need one." I knew I should have gone with my gut.

Wick-Up or what ever it may be called works good too... Its a braided flat wire that soaks up molten solder...
