Re: upgrade to more speed/ best bang for $$
Ready-made cables (based on you needing to ask). High amp cart cables aren't the best time to cut your teeth at crimping and soldering.
No, you don't have upgrade the cables right away, but you won't get the best out that new controller if you don't. In fact you might be under-whelmed with the result your labor. . |

Good to know. For me, a "one time" probably buying pre-made is the way I'll go. More $$$ into the "Cart black hole" Any references for Who makes the better cables? Have seen some that are stiff & not hair thin copper stranded welding lead cable. They sometimes develop hot spots & have less efficiency |

Here's something to check. Based on the picture of your motor cables it would be a good idea to check and see if there any markings on the cables as to what size they are. Those cables look larger than stock cables. Just an observation.

Don't know that I have ever seen aftermarket ( upsized) cables in OEM multi colors?

The wires on the batteries are def not OEM. Check and see what gauge they are.

Re: upgrade to more speed/ best bang for $$
I put #4 wires on the battery jumpers.
When I got it, several batt wires had corrosion issues. Got them on amzon, with the batt indicator & 48/12 V reducer My thoughts ; the longer # 6 wires have more voltage drop than the short batt jumpers. (??) Just have to balance $$ spending, a little at a time. New batts broke the cart budget last month. The cart cables seem to be factory # 6 New # 4s are top of the list, found a full set online for around $200 Plan to check local GC shops, see if they make #4s. PS: Merry Christmas :-) |

Re: upgrade to more speed/ best bang for $$
If you find someone to make the cables, make sure they don't look like the right side of the battery tray picture you posted, that was done incorrectly by an amateur.
This post will show how they should look when done correctly: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gener...ml#post1226124The cables from Controller to Motor carry 100% of the motor current, the battery cables only carry a current proportional to the throttle input. Bigger gauge cables are more about efficiency rather than performance (unless you currently have bad cables). |

I replace the other #6 jumpers with #4s that have heat shrink over the crimped end of the lug. Can't' see how the crimp or wire looks under the heat shrink sleeve. .....Is the heat shrink insulation a good thing? If any cables get hot, even pretty warm, after running under a good load for a while, it's a signal that the wire size is too small . bigger wire needed to carry the current. I havent checked that yet, but I plan on going to # 4 for the efficiency aspect |
