Re: Aftermarket clutches?
The D600 is good for 3600RPM, which is actually about 400rpm less than the stock 357 that was in your G22, so without some changes (other than the motor itself) You're actually going to have a SLOWER cart with that engine swap. Like CG said, all the HP in the world won't make You faster if the engine is spinning the same RPM.
That said, Your best move to make up for that lost speed would likely be a set of 8:1 or even 6:1 gears in the transaxle, personally I'd stick with the 8:1 ratio if You have to clutch it to engage at over 1k, otherwise You're going to have an annoyingly jumpy cart whenever You take off. Mosey on over to the "Big Block" section and hit up the guys on the "Diesel Engine Swap" threads, You'll likely find some definitive hands-on experience there that may help You better. Also, I'm right outside of Lake Geneva if You get stuck or need a hand with anything |

Re: Aftermarket clutches?
I tried the diesel thread and haven't had any reponses. I think I'm going to go with a comet primary clutch. The comet clutch looks like it engages at 1100 rpms.
I just moved down to monroe WI of your ever in the area feel free to hit me up lol |

Re: Aftermarket clutches?
I see the d600 is rated @ 3200 rpms. With 23" tires and the comet primary you should end up somewhere in the 20's mph range.

Re: Aftermarket clutches?
Yes I just ran 23" tires with a 10:1 gear ratio @ 3400 rpms and it came out to 23.3 mph. My comet clutched VC 460 in a yamaha G14 does 25 mph @ 3700 rpms. So I would say the speed calculator is very close. The key to your speed is the 23" tires and the comet clutch in a yamaha.

Re: Aftermarket clutches?
I'm thinking about 8:1 gears and limited slip. Is that around 25-27ish?

Re: Aftermarket clutches?
If the 8:1 are only 8:1 with the comet that works out to 29.1 @ 3400 rpms. Just click on to quick links above and scroll down to the speed calculator. It comes out mighty close to real life speed.

Re: Aftermarket clutches?
You should also make sure the clutch can shift fully under 3600, some don't shift till closer to 4K and you will hit the governor and lose power.
