2008 Precedent Runs With Key Off
When Tow/Run is in Run mode, cart will operate normally with key switch OFF. With Tow/Run in Tow mode, cart will still operate normally if key switch is ON. Up until yesterday, Run mode worked normally and Tow mode would not allow cart to run at all. Before this issue happened, I was checking the wiring on an installed battery meter. 48v system 4-12v. Checked switch voltage with toggle in Run mode, 51v on one side 36v on the other.

Re: 2008 Precedent Runs With Key Off
It sounds like you are trying to tap a single battery for 12v.
Even though it is a bad idea, if you must, the only battery that can be used to provide 12v is the battery #4 that provides pack negative. Remove your "negative" wire for accessories from battery #1 (negative post) or battery #2 (positive post) and your problem will go away. |

Re: 2008 Precedent Runs With Key Off
I did use one battery to run my light kit, it had 2 blue wires already hooked up to it. It was working fine for a couple days. I'll try what you said when I get home tonight. Thanks

Re: 2008 Precedent Runs With Key Off
Thank you for the excellent advice sir. It worked as I'm sure you knew it would. I think I will invest in a 48 to 12 converter and use that for my lights. Thanks again

Re: 2008 Precedent Runs With Key Off
I am glad You fixed your issue, and yes, a 48v->12v converter with a key switch "trigger" wire is the way to go for accessories.
Just make sure the negative for the converter is connected to the Controller B- side of the negative cable (not the battery post side) so the OBC can measure the current being used by the accessories. |

Re: 2008 Precedent Runs With Key Off
The best option for the Precedent is the one that connects directly into the harness.
They mount up front and just connect in line with the existing 12-pin connector from the bucket harness. You then just connect the old wires at the battery compartment directly to 48v. I agree David with RevolutionGolfcars is pretty knowledgeable and a good source to get the reducer. |
