Default Kit

I have 2 G2 transaxles and want to rebuild them both. I'm asking if anyone knows of a bearing or rebuild kit so you don't have to order individual parts. I want to replace all the bearing and seals -- a total refreshment. I'm saving for a set of hi speed gears for one of them.

There is no "kit", but I can help you out a whole bunch on how to get all the bearings at the local auto parts store. This site has a parts diagram for transmission.

https://www.shopyamaha.com/parts-cat..._(G2-AG_-_1991)

Go down the list & get all the bearing part numbers. Make sure to click on each to see quantities used in the transmission. Here's how to decode the part number for easily obtained bearings locally. (Here's an example bearing number: 93306-20421-00) to get the generic part number, just use characters 5-8.
Like this 93306-20421-00, it's generic number would be 6204.

Thank you very much. Does the 5-8 numbering work for seals also? Thank you again.

I wish it did. But seals are pretty easy, most have their measurements printed on them. Or can be measured and found easily. OD, ID, Thickness.

Great tips CGtech!!! I rebuilt a CC trans it was pretty easy. Just take the bearings out and get the numbers. They were all common bearings, some you can get cheap on ebay or tractor supply, less common ones you may need to go to a bearing supplier or mcmasters, etc. In this case they ran it low on oil and the bearings in the bottom were fine the bearings in the top of the case were toast.

If you get sealed bearings you pop the side seal out at least on the inner side, so the trans lube can go in them, when inside a gear case with lube. Often they have open bearings but you may only find sealed ones to buy cheap. I did the same thing with a tiller for a tractor that had chain driven shafts inside. I made new shafts with sprockets, new bearings, all new, was only around $100 to do. Think it is around 45-50" wide tiller boy does it work nice.
