Default '91 gas club car , overheats after 1/2 to 1 mile

I have a '91 gas Club Car with the Kawasaki 4 stroke engine . I am not sure how this engine is cooled , but it overheats after a 1/2 mile or so . once it cools off, it runs fine for another mile or less. Thanks for any input .

If it's truly over heating may need to pull the shroud off the motor and clean all the cooling fins over time they collection dirt and oil and plug up..... if that doesn't fix the problem Take your cart out and run it until it dies pull the spark plug and inspect it if it's wet there's an ignition issue if it's dry to there's a fuel issue coils are known to fail once they get warmed up

I'm guessing spark loss due to overheating ignition coil.

Thank you both for replying . I will pull the shroud and clean everything and also run it until it dies ( hopefully, that wont happen).I will let you know what I find out , thanks again .

You'll have to get it apart to see what the issue is. In my experience and from what I've gathered here, these motors don't usually blow up that quick. They usually knock for a pretty decent while before finally letting loose.

Most of the time the culprit is an egged-out crank journal, and the rod begins to knock the backside of the block until it gives up the ghost.

Good point ! It had a " low" knock for a mile or so , i put my hand on the starter/ gen, and it felt like the knock was there so i had it rebuilt ( it needed it anyway). I've rebuilt a few V8 4 stroke engines , but never delved into this type of 4 stroke . I guess ill take it apart and see whats up . Thanks for your reply.
