I have a G16 yahama gas golf cart. Two years ago I ran out of gas and that’s where the problem started. When I put gas in I was able to drive it for about 15 minutes before it would bog down and not run. I would sit for a couple of minutes then it would go. Then it started getting more frequently. Since then I changed the battery, fuel pump, fuel lines,fuel filter, drained gas tank, TCI, solenoid, spark plug, and had a oil change. Any other changes that I can try?

I had a lawn mower that did the same thing. Drilled a small hole in the gas cap. Problem solved.

all the parts you changed, were they OEM?

If not, put oem parts back on and let us know

What he meant by OEM parts is are they actual Yamaha parts? Or are they aftermarket parts made in mama woo's garage and shipped overseas to be sold here on ebay and amazon?


I've learned the hard way, these carts do not play nice with aftermarket parts. I don't know if it's the cart itself or just that the aftermarket variety of parts are pure junk. But if it doesn't come in a bag/box with a Yamaha label and part number, you're asking for problems and chasing your own tail.

And I would check and clean the carb real well. There's a good chance you've got trash in your carb and either the float/needle is sticking, or trash in the orifice for the needle. I'd also make surere the fuel pump is doing what it should and the pulse line to the fuel pump is clean and clear.

what kind of testing have you done? When it quits is there spark? Then check for gas. Time for diagnosis.

Also, by "then stops" do you mean totally dead, or "cranks but won't start"?

I ended up by taking it to a repair shop. I will update with results.
