G1 oil leak
Ok my gut does not feel good! I change the govoner rod and put an in line fuel filter on G1 this morning and it ran great for about a 1/4 mile and now I have loss power and it appears it is leaking oil out of the exhaust at the motor imtakenot tailpipe. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance!

Re: G1 oil leak
Your gut is wise. It sounds like you may have broken a ring / piston. First thing you need to do is check compression. It should be around 120 psi or so unless you happen to have an '82 which was more like 90 - 100 psi.
If you don't have good compression you have a new top end in your future. |

Re: G1 oil leak
what he said. if you don't have a compression gauge handy you can also pull the carb off and look into the intake at one side of the piston and rings. may have to roll the motor over a bit.
you should be able to rent a compression gauge at auto zone. |
