Buying advice year differences
Admins feel free to move if this isn’t the right place
So as the title says I am looking for buying advice for my first golf cart. We are buying it to use at our campground, mostly flat ground but with a few hills here in there. Eventually would like to put a lift and larger tires on it. I am down to three options and curious which one you would recommend. 2002 Gas Club Car $2,000 2006 Gas Club Car $2,500 2008 Yamaha Drive 48v $2,250 (Batteries are 6 years old) All of them are stock previous Golf Course Rentals |

Re: Looking for buying advice
The batteries on the Yamaha, being 6 years old are likely just getting by. You would need to replace them. Consider that cost. Likely $1,000-$1,300 depending upon the battery.
The gas carts may be looking better.....but I have no experience with gas carts to advise you. Someone else will chime in soon. |

Re: Looking for buying advice
Welcome!
(I would personally find me a 48v CC (I am biased), but if you are wanting gas, I would go with the '06 for $500 more. The Yamaha is out for the cost of batteries.) |

Re: Looking for buying advice
For the price, I'd pick one of the 2 gas carts. The yamaha is going to need batteries right off the bat, and that's a pretty substantial cost. After battery replacement, you'll be into the Yamaha for $3k at least. That extra $1000 will go a long ways toward tires/lift/etc. on the older club car.
Between the 2 gas carts, I wouldn't pay attention to the year. Pay more attention to the cart itself. I'd gladly take an older cart that's in better cosmetic and mechanical condition over a newer one that wasn't maintained as well. clutch sheaves ("V" shaped part of the clutch where the belt rides) - are they flat or wavy? should be ruler flat. If they're wavy the clutch will need replaced. belt condition should be over 1" wide, with no cracking engine should be clean with no leaks or noises (the kawasaki motors are very smooth and quiet). Any rattling noise is bad. Any dark spots where dirt and stuff is caked may be signs of an oil leak. there should be no smoke and body/seat condition is something to keep in mind as well. Any of this stuff can be repaired or replaced without too much effort (depending on how mechanically inclined you are) but any replacements will add time/effort/cost and should be taken into account. |

Re: Looking for buying advice
I agree 110% with condition as opposed to year.
