Default 1988 EZ GO Marathon

That was a dangerous amount of heat near that gas... man.

Wowzie on that gas cap, imagine how hot the metal gauge rods were getting in the gas. I think you got lucky when it quit......

I'd replace that gas cap in case it leaks and/or melted the vent hole closed

Yes! Very lucky it stalled out. The foam insulation was smoking when it stalled out and I think about to catch serious fire if I didn’t catch it when I did.

Definitely will replace the gas cap, exhaust gaskets, and get the exhaust welded back up before I try to drive it again. Any other things to replace or check or does that seem like a pretty safe place to start given where the heat was coming from?

Getting started back up on this project since it overheated last summer. It was turning over when I put it away. Now when I go to hook up the battery it’s not turning over like it’s dead and something keeps shocking me..melted wire somewhere? Any other things I should check before getting this thing to run again? bought a brand new muffler and gasket and welded the main pipe so it has a nice snug fit now.
