Default Backfiring and accelerator humming noise/not turning over engine

Hello,

I’m brand new here and brand new to owning a golf cart. I just purchased a 2017 EZGO TXT and I’ve noticed that it backfires randomly at least once a day while on rides.

A separate issue I’m having is that when i press the accelerator pedal, the motor makes a humming noise like it’s trying to start up but it’s not turning the engine over.

I have to press the pedal down a few times for it to activate the engine. Doesn’t matter if it’s cold or warm.

Thank you in advance for the help!

Start by checking the battery voltage. Put it in neutral, and press the pedal. See what the voltage drops to.

12.75 volts is a fully charged battery. If the voltage drops below 9.6 volts while stepping on the pedal, it's a failed load test.

The reality is that it really shouldn't drop below 11 volts.

After that you are looking for poor connections, and dirty grounds.

Raise the seat and take a look when it's humming and not cranking the motor. Is the belt slipping on the starter/generator ? If so, tighten it.
