Default Nut Sert?

Has anyone used aluminum nut serts on the body? For securing diamond plate, access panels etc. A thin washer on both sides of the body so you don’t pull through the plastic? Aluminum are easy to set and you don’t have to crimp as hard as the stainless steel serts. Just a idea and seeing if anyone has tried this. Thanks for any input.

Most plastic body panels are too thin and flimsy to suppor an insert. I usually use rivets. I've never seen inserts on a golf cart body, but maybe there's a special type I'm not aware of.

I appreciate the response, I have used them on other applications and wasn’t sure about plastic. I’ll post if I find something.

I used a bunch of stainless nut inserts on my cart, but my body is fiberglass.
With the plastic body the other option for what you are trying to do is to use Dzus Fasteners. Lots of options, they can get expensive but the end result of these is real nice.
