Default 1984 Club Car DS - Battery Drains

Hello

Been awhile since I posted and one problem was fixed but another occurred..

I hired a local golf cart guy who changed out a bad solenoid and microswitches. I ordered a solenoid offline that said it was for the model I have. The main differences between the old one and the new one was:

1) 4 Posts vs 3(Old)
2) Had to add a ground wire
3) 36V vs 12V(old)

Once I added the ground cable, it fired right up. After running great for 3 days, the battery died. I had to charge it and it fired up and ran again for 3 days. Died again, so I changed the battery out even though I knew the old one was still good. Same result.

I am now trying to figure out why my battery is draining. I don't know if the microswitches could be mixed up or if they are universal.

I have attached a picture of the solenoid box. As you will see, there are 3 taped wires. One goes to the micro switch and the other two go to the maintenance post but do nothing.

Any and all ideas are welcome.

Thanks

Here's what I have to offer. The 1984-1985 carts had different wiring setup for just those two years. I started making a colored wiring diagram to help out guys who have these model year carts. But there are a few wires that I don't have colors for (they are lettered in the diagram A,B,C,D,E,F,G). Maybe this can answer some questions you may have.

Thanks Dude!!

I am probably going to have to rewire it all but still a head scratcher on what is pulling stray voltage to drain the battery..

It is a pretty simple wiring set up..

Do you know if the micro switches are universal that are in the box??

Thanks again.

I don't know if the microswitches in the box are universal. Maybe?

Have you checked your starter generator? What is the resting battery voltage? Should be 12.2 or close to it and with the cart in N and the pedal pressed and cart running, what is the battery voltage? Should be 14.4. If the voltage doesnt come up to 14.4 than you have a charging issue.

I had the same thing happen to my perfectly good battery when I replaced the voltage regulator (bought from golf cart shop) that overcharged and ruined my battery. Replaced both and haven't had a problem since.
