Default kf82 no spark

I had just got this engine rebuilt this winter and everything ran great. The boys had it out and 'didn't hit anything' but when i opened the seat something came in and hit the engine case and tore off the coil and broke the spark plug cable. I replaced the coil and I noticed the plug was a little sloppy, so I tried it and it would run for a little bit then would stop. I messed with the plug and worked again for a little bit. I then replaced the exciter coil and now I have no spark at all. Did I put something in wrong? It seems to me it can only go in one way.
