Clicking noise when i turn key to start
Hey guys so I have a 2008 Yamaha Golf cart and I installed a Vanguard Big Block engine about a year ago and for the past 4 months I started getting a clicking noise when I turn the key. I first thought it was the ignition switch so I changed that out and that didn't fix it. Then I changed out the starter on the engine but that didn't fix it either. Sometimes it turns over no problem then other times I get the clicking noise. I do have a viper alarm system installed on it so I am wondering if that is what is causing it to do this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Clicking noise when i turn key to start
Start solenoid is bad. Sometimes it makes contact, other times it doesn't. This is common with solenoids that are starting to fail. Do you have a volt meter and know how to use it? If so, connect the leads to both big terminals on the solenoid, and try to start. When it starts, you will see 12 Volts across the big terminals...and when it only clicks, you will see 0 volts, or maybe a very small voltage. If you get 12 volts even when its only clicking, then it isn't the solenoid, but I would be very surprised if that isn't the issue. Your starter and ignition switch are likely still good. Solenoid is a simple replacement.
