The best idea I heard from that old thread was using a magnetic switch in the bottom of the cup holder, and then having to set a metal cup or mug in the holder to make contact to start the cart. I was afraid I would always leave the cup somewhere else, and be walking!!

That reminds me, I need to go buy a couple extra cigarette lighters and hide them somewhere.........

It turns out that since that circuit is only "on" when the starter motor is engaged, the lighter never (hopefully!) gets hot enough to pop out. When you are driving, it can stay in the "lighter" position forever and never get hot. I just pull it right back out after starting.

cigerate lighter makes sense in series with circuit. used to have a offroad prerunner truck that i wired a stock airconditioner switch in the stock place on the dash that interupted the coil, so truck would crank and crank, but no spark. the beauty of the whole set up was that the security measure was hidding in plain sight, and most people are so smart that they never gave it a second look. i really like the magnetic prox. switch idea. they use them all over in factories to close circuits. why not the cart cup holder. and Flintrock: if you lost your cup on a walk or whatever....you could always use a bolt off of the cart or some stray piece of iron, nichol, or steel.....or you could just jumper it all out. did you ever watch junkyard wars Mc Guiver, ot A-team? there would be a way.
