98 EZGO Starter keeps running

I am working on a 98 EZGO Gas. The battery went dead as the cart was not charging. I replaced the voltage regulator and now it charges fine. The problem is that after running the cart and coming to a stop the starter coninutes to run. It does not try to start as no gas is applied. I tried another voltage regulator just in case. Could I have hooked up the wires wrong? Red to Red, Black to Black and the Green has a matching plug end. Seems as though I could not have goofed this up. Anyone else ever had this problem?

Turning the key off does not stop the starer either.

May well be just a dirty/sticking accelerator microswitch---shoot it up with contact cleaner and see if that solves it.

Check the solenoid as well.

Gave microswitch a shot of WD40 and it is still working after all this time.
