Driven clutch slipping
Hello,
I have a 91 gas 2 stroke ezgo cart. I was just at a friends house, put it in gear and had a strange noise from the rear end, and cart wouldn't move. Looks like when I press the gas the driven clutch just spins and the cart goes no where. Any ideas where to start, I did a search and didn't find anything. This is not a cool way to spend my birthday, on the bright side it will keep me out of my cart when I shouldn't be driving. |

Re: Driven clutch slipping
Check for a striped hub on the axel. The splines on the hub will strip and you wan't go anywhere.

Re: Driven clutch slipping
and when you rebuild it torque the nut to 140 ft lbs and then tighten it further to align the hole for the split pin. You would also be well advised to check the torque on the other side.

Re: Driven clutch slipping
So if the driven clutch is spinning I need to rebuild the axle? This is not good news, can anyone point me to the directions to do this?
Thanks, Scott |

Re: Driven clutch slipping
Maybe I called this the wrong post... The driven clutch is spinning, I was hoping that was where the problem was. I am going to remove it and see if that is what needs to be replaced before I get deeper in to trouble trying to fix something I know nothing about...again.

You need a new brake drum hub! The axle rarely strips. :) |

Re: Driven clutch slipping
Bingo... The driver side nut is just turning, the passenger side is not moving. Should I replace both sides while I am at it?

Re: Driven clutch slipping
I'm going to give your hubs a try, the free shipping made it a no brainier. Figure I might as well change them both out now so I don't have an issue in the future.
