Default Charging Golf Cart in Storage

Hio everyone. A friend of mine has two golf carts. One in Palm Desert and one in the Sierra foothills. He spends 5+ months of the year in the desert and the rest of the time in the foothills. The problem is he is always leaving some golf cart alone for 5 months at a time. In the desert, the 7 summer months the cart will be in daytime heat of 110-120 degrees and in the winter the golf cart in the Seirras will go down to 10-20 at night.

The question is,..What is the best way to charge the batteries either once per week or twice per month during the time they are not in use. I know that when they sit unused and discharge the sulfate accumulates and eventrually ruins the batteries. So what is the best way to keep them charged up. It seems we could set some kind of timers to turn the Club Car charger on at least once every two weeks.

depending on what year cart, I believe the OBC will turn on every two weeks all by itself to maintain the batterys, just leave it plugged in.

I would reccomend a stand alone maintainer/charger/desulfater from battery minder.

Your friend should invest in 2 of this type charger in 36 or 48v. THey stay plugged in and check the pack every 30 days, If the pack needs charging they come on for a full cycle and reset the 30 day timer to check again... This is the way to go IMO
It is best if somebody can check the water levels every 2 months?

Scotty,

Could a battery water tender solve that problem, or are they only good for carts in constant use?

I've never had or used one and honestly do not know anything about them.
