Re: who has the 'ELITE' dash?
You should be able to hook the memory wire and power wire under the same fuse, unless you were running the memory wire to the key or something. You know, I don't remember how many amps radios draw. You might want to read the specs/owners manual if there is no fuse on the back or in-line on the power wire.

Re: who has the 'ELITE' dash?
Any recommendations on the type of wire to purchase to get from the receiver to the battery? (certain gauge, shielded) Will speaker wire work?

Re: who has the 'ELITE' dash?
If it was me I would use 14 gauge primary wire, I wouldn't use speaker wire. Primary wire can be found at any store, even walmart.

Oh, I forgot to add, you may want to pick up some wire loom to throw over whatever you use. It protects the wire from rubbing sharp edges and keeps all the wires together.

Re: who has the 'ELITE' dash?
So, I have everything now. One glaring thing I think I still need when I'm looking at all the parts. How did everyone attach the radio? It appears the radio just slides right into the hole, but what keeps it in place? Do I need to get some sort of a mounting kit somewhere to mount the radio to the old dash?
thanks! |

Re: who has the 'ELITE' dash?
I haven't bought a radio in a while, but doesn't it still come with a mounting sleeve that you install, then the radio just slides into that and lock into place?

Ah....my bad, I see how it works now. I obviously have never purchased a radio. ;)
thanks Kal. |

Re: who has the 'ELITE' dash?
Yes, I found all the parts you recommended (in-line fuse 14g primary wire, etc...). I hope to get it installed this weekend.
Thanks again, hopefully I won't be back with more questions. ;) |
