Brake Issue
All,
I've got a 2002 CC Electric I.Q. DS, 48 Volt Regen. When I got the cart (bout a year ago or so), the brakes never seemed to work that great. Initially, the brake pedal was "real tight", but never seem to have any stopping power and every so often the brakes would just lock up if you really pressed on the pedal. Well, the past couple weeks, the tightness has just went away in the pedal, but I still have no stopping power and it doesn't "lock up" the brakes anymore. All the while, the "parking brake" mechanism seems to work fine - go figure. Do you think I got a brake pad issue or a brake cable issue or both. I was leaning towards just simply needing new brake pads, but now I'm thinking brake cable after reading a few other threads. What's the normal life span of the pads and those cables? Our local club car shop wants about $100 bucks (plus the cost of the pads) to put new pads on. Are changing the pads a royal pain in the arse? I've got plenty of tools and am handy with them, just never messed with any golf cart brakes. What about the cable itself, is it difficult to change if indeed it's the cable? Thanks for any tips or advice! |

Re: Brake Issue
Thanks, just reading that manual helped me decide on taking the cart into the shop. :) Seriously though, it is very nice having the manual. Maybe by taking some things apart with the help of the manual, I'll be able to answer my own questions. Thanks again.

Re: Brake Issue
Still looking for some thoughts or advice before I load her up and take to the cart shop. Anyone got an idea if, by the sounds of things, I have a brake pad issue or brake cable issue?
