Flip differential on 88 EZGO possible?
Im working on my first buggy build and have ran into my first major issue. The cart is an 88 EZGO and the rear axle has the differential with the spline pointing straight out to the front, I have an engine that was given to me and it rotates counterclockwise when looking at the pulley (torque converter or clutch), and unless i mounted the engine behind the axle the wheels turn in reverse with the engine running. I have looked up flipping the differential and it seems to be a big controversy. I though i might as well give it a try cause i have nothing to lose on this one.
Is it even possible with this set up on the 88 EZGO? I thought i would pull the whole axle assembly and separate the differential from each axle and flip the differential and then reinstall the axles back into what would be the opposite sides that they were on. I'm looking for good news here guys i don't know what else to do! This is the last step before i can get this bad rolling. Thank yall so much in advance! |

Re: Flip differential on 88 EZGO possible?
I'm not real sure flipping the differential is going to reverse the motor spin.... I think you can flip the differential. I have done it on older CC to move the spring purchases to the top - which by the way, may be a byproduct of this project..... PS = why not just F for R ?

And I forgot to include that this differential unfortunately does not have the FNR option, it just spins one way unless your engine can run backwards (which mine can't haha). When you flipped your axle did you have to run it in reverse to go forward? |
