Default F1 F2 wires

I have 2g cables on batteries, solenoid and motor, with a 500amp controller. I've read on here that upgrading the f1 & f2 wires are also recommended. Is this really nessasary? I keep the Stock wires that came with the stock controller. If I had to guess I would say they are 12g wires not really sure though.
