Default EZGO Driven clutch cam

Hi I have a 2001 ezgo txt with 295 robin's engine and I am trying to take apart the driven clutch. My question is, is the driven clutch cam splined to the shaft, it does look like it is, but want to be sure. I have the snap ring off, but I believe the cam is seized to the center shaft. It has been soaking with blaster and other penetrating fluids for days but does not want to move. I have tried pressing the cam down in a press but being very carful because I don't know how far I can press it, just to try and break it free. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

BE VERY CAREFUL!

The cam is splined to the shaft, and also under spring pressure. Without the snap ring, it can fly off. You won't be able to push it on any more than just past the snap ring groove. If you are careful, you can use the press to put pressure on the center shaft, and drive it out of the cam.

I can now see that it is splined to the shaft, it is seized to the spline really good, the snap ring is off but it is going to be hard to put in press and hold the cam unless I can support clutch between the sheaves, any way to do that. Thanks 1989Marathon

Do you have a 3-jaw puller? Use it on the cam only, not on the sheave.
Remember, it is under pressure and can fly apart!

Yes I do have pullers but was not sure if I could pull on movable sheave, its impossible to put pullers on the cam itself. I will take it to work tomorrow I have access to everything I would need there. Thanks again 1989Marathon

I don't know how your press is set up, but if you can get a couple plates between the sheaves, you can then push the shaft out. Don't use the outside diameter of the sheave for leverage. It will break easily.

Yes, that is what I am going to do, I have press at home, but have everything at work. I am a millwright instructor so I have a full machine shop at my finger tips. It never hurts to ask question. Thanks for info, I will tell you how I made out tomorrow.

Just to let you know 1989Marathon, the clutch cam was seized good, was not much trouble to get apart with all the equipment I have at work. It was not in to bad of shape, put new spring and cam button's in, all back together now just put it back on cart. Thanks again for the help.
