I know the pipes are suppose to be different, But what is the difference in them I tore down the 88 and the 86 at the same time and haven't held the pipes side by side but when take if everything apart I didn't notice a difference

The 88 header pipe has less bends than the others, from what I can tell. Never had them side by side myself either.

Is the 88 attached to the top of the muffler, and the 86 attached to the side? My 87 exhaust pipe attaches to the side of the muffler.

Yep, 88 attaches at an elbow at the top of the muffler.
