correct cylinder pressure
1989 2pg rebuilt engine -- recently I put a 50-over piston in this fully rebuilt engine. With a compression gauge in the spark plug hole, it shows 100 lb quickly and holds it quite well. I often see "120 lbs" as the target -- is 110 lbs a problem that will affect it starting/ running?

Re: correct cylinder pressure
Are you holding the throttle wide-open during cranking(if you have the cable unhooked). Are your crankseals in good condition? Is the piston in correctly(there is a front and rear).Did a ring get damaged during installation? Is the piston correctly fitted in the bore(did it get bored oversize or even egg-shaped due to using a flex-hone).I don't remember the desired range for compression on a 2pg,but definitely over 110(I think the spec.may have been 135-150?).Any of these alone or in combination will drop compression.Hope this helps.

Re: correct cylinder pressure
This 100 lbs is after it stopped running. When I first rebuilt it, it did closer to 120lbs, but I figured 100 probably indicated some seating of the rings, etc. Not so?
