Workhorse wont turn over
I have a 2000 or 2002 EZGO workhorse. Parked it and the next day it would not turn over. The dump box goes up and down so the
battery seems OK. It worked one day and would not turn over the next. Any help here?? |

Re: Workhorse wont turn over
Can be a few things causing the problem. Can you hear the solenoid clicking? If not then it would be either the microswitch in the pedal box or the solenoid has gone bad. If the solenoid is clicking and power is making it out, it can be the starter generator. Roll the motor over by hand a little bit and try again. Could be brushes going bad or bad winding.

No clicking. Where is the microswitch. I'll try jumpering it out to see if thats it.

Re: Workhorse wont turn over
The pedal box is under the mat right under your feet. I would first locate the solenoid and a test light or meter and find the side of the solenoid that gets triggered and see if voltage is making it there. If not, then it's either the switch or power to the switch. Then you can start taking stuff apart.

Re: Workhorse wont turn over
I traced the micro switch wires back to where I could get at them. Pedal released, the switch is open. Pedal depressed, the switch is closed, just like I assume it should be. I pulled the cover off of the solenoid area and man there is a lot of stuff under there. I have power to one side of the solenoid, with the pedal depresses, but the other side is dead. If I short out across the solenoid with a screwdriver, It turns over. I’m thinking it’s the solenoid. Can you think of any other thing I should check first? Where is a good place to get parts??

Re: Workhorse wont turn over
The solenoid has 4 wires right? two thick, two thin. You should get 12v on the two small wires to trigger it. You traced it from the pedal, now is the other side getting what it wants? Dig for a wiring diagram to trace it down.

Re: Workhorse wont turn over
been a while since i had time to work on the old boy. replaced the coil and it's all better. Thanks for the info.
The next question is, what oil are you supposed to run in the rear axle? |
