Chirping drive belt
I have a g2 with a chirping drive belt. I removed drive belt and ran engine and the noise stopped so I figure it's not the starter belt. After wasting $35 on new belt that didn't fix it, I did some research on belts and found that chirping is usually caused by misaligned pulleys. Noticed that one of the buttons is missing on my driven. My question is, do you think that the missing button could cause the misalignment and the chirping?

Re: Chirping drive belt
Yes, Possible. Twist the sliding portion, then try to rock it axially (like a wobble).

Re: Chirping drive belt
Everything feels tight. The only other thing I see is the disk on the drive is worn near the center.
I took driven apart and removed ramp shoes. Ordered new oem does anyone have procedure for reinstalling stock driven? |

Re: Chirping drive belt
Update. I put the new ramp shoes on last night. No change. My next cheapest guess is to check the motor mounts and see of they've let the engine shift enough to cause the chirp. Doubt it though.

Re: Chirping drive belt
I had a broken spring in the secondary clutch that caused my belt to squeal.

Re: Chirping drive belt
I think that motor mounts could cause a chirping noise. On a golf cart, all parts and systems have to be working properly to have a good running car!! Can't have worn parts in the mix, and expect great performance!!
Check the sliding sheave for wear, by using your thumb and finger to check the thickness where the belt rides. If it feels less than 1/16", I would replace it. It could expload sending shrapnal all directions!! |

Re: Chirping drive belt
I put a new rear sheave in. Didn't cure it. Tightened the starter belt and still didn't cure it. Still need to check mounts but hoping my hearing detriorates in the mean time. My half-deaf buddies can't hear it.

Re: Chirping drive belt
May be the primary has an issue and is engaging suddenly or a weight/etc is broken. When does it do the noise, when running or just taking off, etc.?
