yamaha 2000 gas
I have a 2000 gas yamaha and starting is becoming an issue. It starts real rough (not engine related). Kind of a jerky motion and then snaps out of it. I suspect that it may be a worn drive belt but I don't have enough experience to know how warn it is. I was thinking of having a friend that owns a snowmobile look at it to see if he could guide me. Does this sound like a drive belt issue? Have had the cart for 3 yrs and never a problem.

Re: yamaha 2000 gas
A worn drive belt will measure at around 1" maybe 1 1/8" at it's widest point. Also it will feel loose while not running, up and down movement. Check that. If the belt has been on there a long time and it's seen a lot of use, chances are it needs replaced. The condition of the clutches will also cause the problems you are describing.

have you ever lubed the clutches? may be sticking then letting loose giving you the jerky feeling

Re: yamaha 2000 gas
thanks for those two suggestions. makes sense to me. I used it again last night and noticed that I had no problems until about hole #14. Our course is what I would consider a mild hilly rural iowa golf course. I am now wondering if the longer I run it,.....the warmer the clutch/belt gets.
but with that said,....I think I will try the belt replacement first and then lubing the clutch 2nd. That way I can eliminate one or the other. thanks again for the helpful suggestions. |

Re: yamaha 2000 gas
That MAY be a backward approach. A fresh belt may make some difference, masking a clutch problem temporarly (i did see a improvement)..

Re: yamaha 2000 gas
I guess my thought was that the belt has been on there for several years and I am thinking that it needs to be replaced anyway,....ssssooooo.......I thought I would try that first.
