EZGO controller replacement
I am new to golf carts. My 1998 Freedom burned up the controller its a Curtis 25864G05. Looking to replace it and solenoid with mild replacement, but not sure what to get. I have a AU2500 hi speed motor. Need some suggestions on plug in and play. May lift and tires later on. Thanks in advance for your input.

Re: EZGO controller replacement
90% of the guys are using pkg #485 from our website. It includes the Alltrax SPM 500a 36-48v control and the 400a superduty solenoid with main fuse, resistor, and diode
go here > http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Custom_Options.html It's about half way down the page. The other 10% are using Pkg #484 |

Re: EZGO controller replacement
The part number you gave is for a 36V-275A series controller (feeds a series wound motor).
Changing the tire size, changes the final drive ratio. Tires taller than 18" increase stock speed, but reduce stock torque, so you need a higher amp controller to offset the torque loss. If you stay 20" and below, you might not need to lift the cart and a 400A controller with a 200A solenoid may suffice. Lifting a cart is for tire clearance (or cosmetics) and doesn't alter controller amp requirements. A 400A controller will turn tires up to about 23". Tires 23" and taller need a 500A (or larger) controller and a 400A solenoid. The high current cable in a 1998 cart are most likely 6Ga, so they need to be upgraded to at least 4Ga. (all 13 of them) Also, the F/R switch may need to be upgraded the handle the higher amps. ----------- I see Scotty posted while I was typing. Last edited by JohnnieB; 11-01-2014 at 01:39 PM.. Re: EZGO controller replacement
Leebird.....I gotta tell you.....the package that Scotty suggested WILL do you right. especially if you intend to lift and larger tires, as I bought a cart that was already lifted and had 23" tires, but a totally stock drive system......I installed the Pkg#485 and a set of his #2 ga. cables and absolutely love it!!
