safe to hard wire voltage reducer
I wired the reducer to a toggle switch so it wasn't constantly connected. The radio looses memory when I flip the switch. How many have the signal wire ran straight to the battery? I was worried about it draining batteries or getting hot. Will it be a drain and overheat or will it do nothing unless I have accessories on?

I think it's best to have the reducer on a switch. I replied to your other thread, I think you may be able to run the memory wire to the #2 positive post...

It will be somewhat of a drain. How much, you would have to measure. Also, be sure to use appropriate fuses on the input and output of the convertor.

everything is fused as of now. Which battery is #2? also will that hurt the #2 batt?

The "surepower" convertors used by ezgo & yamaha have a switched & unswitched 12v outputs. I have never yet used the convertors from ebay. Guess thats one of the benefits of stepping up to a more expensive product. DPI now also has dc convertors for a nice price that has the same 6 prong "DT" plug for "drop-in" installation on ezgo & yamaha harnesses (which includes switched & unswitched 12v).
