Well.....when I cut my post, there was a considerable amount of thought that went into the "where" to cut the post. Because my cart was used for hunting, I didn't want to leave a long "spear" type of post sticking up in case of any kind of roll over. So, I cut the post as close to the cart as I thought was reasonable, and that would be as safe as possible (not stab me all the way thru) if such an unlikely event would occur.

This first pic is where the post would be....if it were still attached to my EZ-GO TXT cart:


This pic is how long (from the inside radius) of the curve the post extends. You can see it's only 5".



But whatever you do, and however you use your cart should determine where your going to cut the post. But personally, I like 'em cut close for safety. JMHO.
