staple on seat cover question
Hi Everybody,
I just ordered new seat covers from eBay for my rxv. I have front and back seats. My current seats are fine with no rips, holes or tears, I just don't like the tan color. I have read people do it both ways- apply covers over existing seat covers or remove old covers and apply directly over the foam. I am inclined to leave the old covers on as additional waterproofing for the foam (it is wet in the Seattle winters). Can anybody give me some help? Thanks!!! |

Re: staple on seat cover question
Might end up making wrinkles in the original vinyl, under your new cover, which could show on your new covers. Depends how the new cover will stretch over the old material. Be sure to warm the new cover in the sun to ease flexibility & installation.

Re: staple on seat cover question
I have heard of folks putting the new covers in the dryer JUST long enough to get them slightly warm so they'll be easier to work with and pull tight.

Re: staple on seat cover question
Yuck. We had a high of 57 with a really brisk wind.
That does bring up a good point though, leaving the new ones in the sun for a bit will get them pliable and easier to stretch also. |

Re: staple on seat cover question
Remember, we're talking about Seattle. Unless he wants to wait until the 4th of July, use the dryer. ( From a neighbor 5 hours south)

Re: staple on seat cover question
I recently redid mine for the same reason and just stapled the new one right over the old one and it worked just fine.
