Most cost effective way to increase speed of a series DS?

It's a little more money depending on if you need to pay somebody to do the work or not...but high speed gears really works in these series carts...I have done two of them and with bigger tires and improved cables the speeds are in the 24 mph range with no mods to the motor or controller.

The biggest bang for the buck is to find a CCDS 36v motor and install it in the 48v cart. It's been documented on BGW several times this results in a 33% increase in speed.

Sounds interesting... I don't want to do a lift (I worry about stability and one of the kids tipping the cart on its side), but I do think I could swap out a rear end gear set. Do you notice much of torque reduction at the wheels. We use this cart almost exclusively for personal transport. It has a rear seat, and believe it or not, we often haul a load of 800+ pounds!!!! In fact, we'll sometimes have an 800 lb 4 person load and I'll hang onto the rear seat frame while riding a bike with the cart towing me. The cart has a HUGE amount of torque.

I'll do a little research here on the site and see the costs and complexity of a DIY differential gear set upgrade. Thanks for the suggestion!

Mine has a 36v ds motor and does 19mph and has more torque than stock 48v motor.

Yeah it's a great idea...... If you can find one. They've been discontinued for 13 years now.

Yes as long as it's a 10 spline. A resistor cart has a series motor on it, same as a solid state controller cart.
