It's a little more money depending on if you need to pay somebody to do the work or not...but high speed gears really works in these series carts...I have done two of them and with bigger tires and improved cables the speeds are in the 24 mph range with no mods to the motor or controller.

The biggest bang for the buck is to find a CCDS 36v motor and install it in the 48v cart. It's been documented on BGW several times this results in a 33% increase in speed.

Mine has a 36v ds motor and does 19mph and has more torque than stock 48v motor.
